ASUS changes mind, will continue selling the RTX 5070 Ti after all - Engadget

ASUS has reversed course after reports that the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5060 Ti 16GB were being retired. The company now says both GPUs are still in production and will continue to be sold, attributing any confusion to incomplete information shared by a PR representative.

In a clarification, ASUS emphasized that recent stock issues stem from memory supply constraints that have temporarily limited production and availability in certain regions. This is not an end-of-life (EOL) move, and ASUS says it will keep supporting these models while working with partners to stabilize supply as conditions improve.

The reversal follows an earlier report from the YouTube channel Hardware Unboxed, which said ASUS had designated the RTX 5070 Ti as EOL amid shortages. After ASUS issued its update, the channel noted that the new statement walks back the original guidance they received. Australian resellers also told the channel the RTX 5070 Ti would likely be unavailable through at least the first quarter, underscoring ongoing supply tightness.

Why inventory is thin: the AI boom has driven up memory costs, squeezing GPU manufacturing and pushing prices higher across PC components. Gamers are feeling the pinch, and near-term availability could remain choppy.

What this means for buyers:

  • The RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5060 Ti 16GB are not discontinued.
  • Expect sporadic stock and regional variability in the short term.
  • Prices may fluctuate as memory supply remains tight.
  • Watch for restocks and retailer updates as supply normalizes.
