Smart Reply debuted in 2018 and has changed little since. After a feature-packed 2025 for Google Messages, this quality-of-life tweak would continue that momentum by prioritizing control and accuracy over speed.

What’s changing:

• Suggested replies may be inserted into the compose field as editable drafts
• You can customize the message or delete it before sending
• Fewer accidental sends and more personalized responses
