LG Display Tease New Tandem WOLED Panel Sizes and Specs for 2026 - TFTCentral
LG Display teases new Tandem WOLED panel sizes and specs for 2026
LG Display has previewed its next wave of monitor panels in a short promo video, signaling that new Tandem WOLED options are nearing mass production. Expect more details and hands-on demos at CES in January—and potentially the first monitor announcements using these panels.
Tandem WOLED: simpler name, evolving tech
- LG Display is shortening the name of its 4th‑gen “Primary RGB Tandem WOLED” to simply “Tandem WOLED” for monitors. Note: this is different from its “Tandem OLED” stacks used in sectors like automotive.
- The video also references “Primary RGB Tandem 2.0,” hinting at a refreshed, improved iteration of the tech. Details to follow.
Why Tandem WOLED matters
- LG Display highlights faster response, higher brightness, and improved longevity versus earlier WOLED generations—benefits we’ve covered extensively in prior deep dives.
New panels expected in 2026
- 27-inch 1440p at 540Hz (with dual-mode 720Hz): Already announced in several gaming monitors, including the Asus ROG Swift PG27AQWP-W.
- 39-inch ultrawide 5K2K (5120 x 2160): The long-awaited productivity-and-play sweet spot with ~142 PPI—similar sharpness to 31.5-inch 4K. The video suggests a gentler curve than the steep 800R used on previous 34/39-inch panels and the 45-inch 5K2K from 2025, though this isn’t yet fully confirmed.
- 27-inch UltraHD 4K (3840 x 2160): LG Display’s first 27-inch 4K WOLED panel, finally offering an in-house alternative to competing 27-inch 4K QD-OLED options.
Early spec expectations (subject to confirmation)
- 0.02ms G2G response time
- 99.5% DCI-P3 color gamut
- DisplayHDR 500 True Black certification
- Up to 1500 nits peak brightness
- Refresh rates and dual-mode support for the 39-inch ultrawide and 27-inch 4K are not yet listed
What to watch next
- With mass production on the horizon, CES should bring firmer specs, demos, and likely the first wave of monitor announcements. The 39-inch 5K2K ultrawide targets creators and power users seeking sharper desktop real estate with OLED speed, while the 27-inch 4K WOLED aims at mainstream desk setups—and the 27-inch 1440p 540Hz caters to esports-grade gaming.
