Linux Mint 22.3 Beta Released With Cinnamon 6.6 Desktop - Phoronix

Linux Mint 22.3 Beta ("Zena") is now available for testing, bringing the Cinnamon 6.6 desktop to the Ubuntu 24.04 LTS-based distro just in time for the holidays.

Highlights in Cinnamon 6.6:

• Redesigned application menu with a cleaner, more efficient layout
• New template manager for the Nemo file manager
• Improved support for keyboard layouts and input methods
• Pause and resume for file operations in the file manager
• More accurate file search
• Notification improvements and various desktop refinements

Other app updates:

• Timeshift (XApps) now supports pausing and resuming snapshots
• Warpinator adds IPv6 support
• New troubleshooting tooling improvements

Under the hood:

• Remains based on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
• Ships with a Linux 6.14-based kernel
