Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Book 6 Pro is launching with Intel’s new Panther Lake (Core Ultra Series 3) chips—and a noticeably higher price. Compared to the Galaxy Book 5 Pro, the new model costs roughly $477 more, a hike that appears driven largely by increased DRAM and NAND costs rather than specs alone.
What’s new and where prices land:
- Lineup: Six Galaxy Book 6 models total—four Book 6 Pro units with Xe3-based Arc graphics (integrated on Panther Lake) and two higher-end configurations with NVIDIA RTX 50 Laptop GPUs (RTX 5070/5060).
- Direct successor: The Galaxy Book 6 Pro (NT960XJG-KD72G) replaces the Book 5 Pro (NT960XHA-KD72G) that featured Intel Lunar Lake Core Ultra 7 Series 2. The CPU core count doubles (8-core to 16-core), but other key specs are unchanged: 32GB LPDDR5X memory and 1TB storage.
- Pricing: Galaxy Book 5 Pro launched at 2,808,000 KRW (about $1,904). Galaxy Book 6 Pro is listed at 3,510,000 KRW (about $2,381), a near-$477 increase. Discrete GPU variants target roughly $3,141–$3,344.
Why it matters: Samsung, one of the largest DRAM and NAND producers, appears to be passing elevated memory costs to buyers to protect margins.
