Julian Gerighty, executive producer of Ubisoft’s The Division and a longtime leader at Massive Entertainment, is leaving to join Battlefield Studios at EA. Ubisoft reassured fans that the franchise’s roadmap remains intact despite his departure.

Ubisoft’s message to players was clear: "don’t worry." The teams that built The Division with Gerighty are continuing development with an unchanged commitment to The Division 2, The Division 2: Survivors, The Division Resurgence, and The Division 3.

In his farewell, Gerighty said, "It’s time for me to hang up my go bag (keeping the watch) as I go on another grand adventure." He added, "The Division future burns bright, and I can’t wait for you to discover what the teams have been working on. Long live The Division and Godspeed!"

Gerighty co-directed The Division and The Division 2, served as creative director on Star Wars Outlaws, and was promoted in 2023 to executive producer overseeing the entire franchise. Under his watch, The Division: Heartland was canceled, and he recently described The Division 3 as a "monster."

What’s next for Gerighty at Battlefield Studios hasn’t been detailed. The Battlefield franchise is riding momentum after Battlefield 6 launched in 2025, becoming the No. 1 best-selling game in the U.S. through November, though its Season 2 update was pushed to mid-February.

Bottom line: The Division remains a priority at Ubisoft, with core teams in place and multiple projects moving forward, while Gerighty heads to Battlefield for his next chapter.
