The Nightbringer C’tan Shard is already a frontrunner for Warhammer 40,000 miniature of 2026, and the Warhammer Community team shows off two striking paint schemes to match its dramatic sculpt. Expect even more reveals in the New Year Preview tomorrow—but for now, here are two inspiring approaches you can replicate.

Joel’s moody purple energy boss

  • Hobby goal: a cinematic “boss” for co-op Kill Team after falling for the Tomb World set—simple Necrons overall, extra time on this centerpiece.
  • Prime and robes: Chaos Black, then airbrush Xereus Purple on the lower robes (thin with Air Caste Thinner). Highlight black folds with Naggaroth Night then Xereus Purple; lighter folds with Kakophoni Purple.
  • Necrodermis: Iron Hands Steel layered with Stormhost Silver, glazed with thinned Luxion Purple, then a final Stormhost Silver highlight.
  • Energy effects: Warpstone Glow layered to Moot Green, then brighten highlights by mixing in Flash Gitz Yellow. Add subtle OSL around the Scarabs.
  • Base: sanded surface with a wet blend of greens for a blackstone feel.
  • Vibe: a regal, spectral executioner—perfect to “shoot to pieces” in co-op.

Luke’s molten metal showpiece

  • Army vision: a bright, re-moulding, living-metal aesthetic to pair with his Void Dragon—this model is the army’s centerpiece.
  • Prime and metal: Chaos Black base, necrodermis picked out in Leadbelcher, then drybrush Runefang Steel for maximum shine.
  • Cloak: Corvus Black with a Nuln Oil wash, selectively drybrushed with Skavenblight Dinge for texture.
  • Red glow: Mephiston Red into Wild Rider Red, finishing with Fire Dragon Bright for the hottest points.
  • Lightning: Dechala Lilac with a Druchii Violet wash; edge highlights in White Scar to crackle.
  • On the table: planning Pantheon of Woe Detachment team-ups and reps before Warhammer Open Maastricht.
